GST Calculator

GST stands for Goods and Services Tax. It is a value-added tax that was introduced in India on July 1, 2017, to replace various indirect taxes such as excise duty, service tax, and VAT.

GST rates are classified into four slabs - 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%, with some items taxed at a lower rate of 0%, 1%, 2.5%, and 3%, and some exempted from GST. The following is a list of GST rates for some commonly used goods and services:

  • 0% GST: essential items such as fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, newspapers, and books
  • 5% GST: items such as tea, coffee, sugar, edible oils, medicines, and vaccines
  • 12% GST: items such as frozen meats, cheese, butter, ghee, ayurvedic medicines, and mobile phones
  • 18% GST: items such as biscuits, cakes, chocolates, footwear, furniture, and cameras
  • 28% GST: items such as luxury cars, tobacco products, and aerated drinks
